In a very depressing article this month, Daily Mail has highlighted some shocking statistics about how the police are failing to resolve burglaries. Evidently, since the police seem rather ineffective in both preventing, and solving the crimes. Therefore homeowners should take their safety into their own hands. We have come to the same conclusion as always. The best way to burglar proof a house is installing security grilles. But let’s see how this works.

The Daily Mail has pointed out that less than half of all burglaries have been resolved in the last three years in the UK. This leaves victims across more than half the country with all the devastating consequences of a burglary alone. They are not only left without answers, but also left in fear of potentially recurring crimes. Although the police are saying they are doing everything they can. These remain empty promises in the face of police numbers being cut.

However there is a fairly simple solution to this problem:  installing security grilles. This will work in two ways when it comes to burglar proofing. First, they will deter burglars in most cases. Thieves will not even consider choosing a property that is fitted with sliding security grilles. Security bars are too difficult to break without causing a lot of noise. Second, if a daring thief still decides to try to break into a property with security grilles on, they won’t be able to. The sturdy metal grilles will physically stop them in their attempts. 

Security grilles therefore not only prevent burglaries, but also physically add an extra layer of security. Unlike security cameras for example. Cameras simply record a crime, they won’t stop or prevent any burglar in their attempts.

We have worked in the security industry for decades. This time we have come to the conclusion over and over again. Unfortunately shop owners and homeowners are left to their own devices when it comes to security. Whilst the government keeps cutting police numbers, crime rates are what they are in the current economic climate. We can debate about this for days.

At the end of the day however, it simply means, homeowners have to take more responsibility for their own sake. Sliding security grilles are a one off investment that will prevent burglaries for decades. Their cost is also insignificant compared to the potential damage a burglary may cause.
