What tools do I need to fit my grille?
The tools depend on the opening and the surface being drilled. Check your supplied instructions before starting. You will usually need appropriate drilling, measuring and marking equipment, together with suitable protection. A cordless screwdriver alone will not be suitable for every substrate.
Can I install the grille myself?
Self-installation is an option if you have the tools and experience to measure, drill and fix accurately. Consider the size and weight of the grille and arrange help where needed. If the structure or access arrangement is uncertain, ask us about the appropriate fitting route before ordering.
How do I measure before ordering?
Use the Safeguard measuring guide for your specific opening and fixing arrangement. Door recesses, window recesses and face-fixed installations have different instructions. Send photographs and ask for advice if the guide does not clearly match your opening.
Which installation sequence should I follow?
Follow the instructions supplied with your grille and use the four-step illustration and video on this page as supporting guidance. Keep the rails and frame aligned throughout the process, and complete the operating and locking checks specified in the instructions before putting the grille into use.
Do I need permission before fitting a grille?
Check any requirements that apply to your property before ordering. These may involve a landlord, freeholder, building manager or local planning authority. Where the opening is used for escape, obtain suitable advice on the proposed arrangement. We cannot confirm every property’s permissions from its dimensions alone.
How should I look after the grille?
Follow the care instructions for your model and keep the track and moving parts clear of debris. If operation becomes stiff or the lock does not engage correctly, ask us for advice. Do not apply a lubricant or cleaning product unless it is recommended for the grille.
What warranty applies?
