Q. is the digital recorder like a computer with a hard drive?
A. yes, it is very similar to a computer, and storage is held on its own hard drive. You do not need any other computer systems to operate it.
Q. how do I control it?
A. the system can either be controlled by operation buttons on the actual unit, or you can plug it into your network, using a static IP and control/view all cameras from your own desktop PC.
Q. how many cameras can I have installed on it?
A. there are typically 2 sizes in the Dedicated Micros DS2 range (see bottom picture), 9 way or a 16 way system. These do not have to be used all at once. It is always advisable to leave room for expansion.
Q. how many digital systems can I have in my school?
A. really, as many as your purse string will allow. Rushcliffe School in West Bridgford, Nottingham, is in the lead so far with 5 Digital Systems and over 70 cameras both internal and externally fitted. They are reaping the rewards every day.
Q. can we fit cameras in toilets to prevent vandalism & smoking?
A. yes you can. There is criteria that must be strictly adhered to, which is that only vandal resistant static cameras can be used, the only image available is of the main entry door and sink areas. No visuals of cubicles, or urinals, and plenty of signs – warning of CCTV cameras installed. Please email us for more information and problem resolving.
Q. how do we retrieve data for internal evidence or Police evidence?
A. if your system is not connected to your network, then all of the functions are on the system. However, if your unit is connected to your network, then you can use the viewing software to pull off the data and save it to CD.
